North Yorkshire Moors

This was such an utterly beautiful shoot and I cant believe I am only just blogging it now. It all started when one of my favourite florists reached out and asked if I wanted to do a shoot with her, Lucy MacNicoll.  Anyone who knows me knows I am a floral obsessed. Factor in the most epic landscape where I live and it was such a highlight of my year. Lucy is amazing and creates the most breathtaking florals.

Gemma over at Rosy Apple events came on board and styled the day to perfection. Encompassing the rural landscape and pulling together such a wonderful team of suppliers. Here is what Gemma had to say

“The narrative for our editorial shoot was influenced by he beautiful and inspiring landscape of the North Yorkshire Moors. this landscape is rich in history and blessed with the most spectacular views.

Embracing simplicity

Embracing simplicity, our bride takes some quiet time on the morning of her elopement for reflection. She embodies a sense of Mother Nature. Being entwined with the beautifully wild and untouched land. She is a fierce woman. The wind makes her feel strong and alive. She is not afraid to be herself, and is most at peace amongst nature. Needing little embellishment to affirm her beauty, she is humble, nurturing and beautifully feminine. A playful spirit whilst possessing inner grace and strength. Everything that I imagine Mother Nature to be.

As I built the concept for our “Wild Beauty Wandering” shoot, I wanted to create something that was very soft, romantic and feminine but keeping a feeling of wild, natural beauty. During March time, the hills are covered in a heather moorland still rich with brown colouration. We took direction from this and chose to use a painterly colour palette of muddy spring tones to add depth and drama. British grown flowers were mainly used to create the wild and overflowing bouquets, urn and table centre. Utilising some of my favourite floral blooms such as garden roses, ranunculus and hellebores. Lucy added in trailing vines and foliage which had been foraged nearby. The bouquet was hand-tied with delicate silk ribbons from Lancaster & Cornish.

The images captured by Georgina Harrison portray the moody essence I was hoping for, whilst perfectly characterising our ethereal bride as both graceful and strong. We let Mother Nature take her course on the day. Lucky she did not disappoint. The lighting was perfect and gave us beautiful golden hues. The wind encompassed our bride and allowed movement of her hair and gown to be authentic and heavenly.”
