Romantic Northumberland marquee wedding

Northumberland wedding photography

This gorgeous bride and groom are based in London but it was the wild and rural Northumbrian landscape that became the backdrop for their romantic marquee wedding. Bride, Tash grew up in a small Northumbrian village just a few miles away from Alnwick, and took this opportunity to create their dream wedding venue right on her parents farm over looking the most breathtaking Northumbrian countryside views.

A few words from Tash ‘Living in London, it was so special to have our wedding at my family home in Northumberland where my family have lived for generations. It was the most beautiful setting and to have all our guests travel from London & all over the world to come and spend the weekend with us was amazing. We had few surprises up our sleeves for each other including a ‘Love Actually style’ singing performance of ‘I say a little prayer for you’ kicked off by a slightly out of tune best man in the church and followed by professional singers mingled into the congregation standing up and singing. Total surprise and certainly calmed our nerves in the church and got us ready to party!’

Riki Dalal bespoke bridal gown for fashion savvy bride

As owner and designer of her own fashion label Jane & Tash and more recently Muse & Moda I had no doubt that Tash would have chosen the most beautiful bridal gown for her big day. Tash wore the most incredible Riki Dalal gown with bespoke long sleeves adorned with pretty embroidery and applique flowers. After the drinks reception Tash took off the bespoke detachable sleeves to show the stunning back of the gown. The detail on this dress was just incredible.

Jane and her fabulous team from Weddings & Events were on hand crafted the most stunning floral displays and bouquets. From the tall botanical style table scapes to the amazing relaxed English garden style arch adorning the doorway of the beautiful St Michael’s medieval church. The gorgeous arches also continued on to the beautiful traditional poled marquee.

Anyone who knows me and follows me on social media (my Instagram is brimming with florals) will know just how much I love floral design and gardens. I am a massive advocate of FOAM FREE florals as the impact of awful non biodegradable/oasis on the environment is just so so unnecessary. These beautiful arches are such an amazing example of FOAM FREE – one of the many reasons why I love Jane and her team.

The arches and bouquets were also filled with amazing British florals all locally sourced – again I am a massive support of all the independent flower farms & growers across the UK. If you are wanting a more sustainable British bouquet do ask your florist about where the blooms are sourced.

Naturally all couples would love to order in the best weather mother nature has to offer but going with the flow and how you react to the weather you get on your day is the most important. It rained hard and for very long periods of time on Tash & Jamie’s big day but I just love guests reactions and all the fun candid moments with umbrellas. I always say try not to worry about the weather as it is out of your control, you can however control how you feel about it and trust me, its the people and the love that matter. (plus I am more than happy to stand out in the rain getting wet in order to get you the very best moments)

The vibe for the day

Tash explains: ‘We wanted the day to be relaxed, full of laughter, music, great food & drink and mostly love. It was really important to us to ensure our guests whom travelled to us had a seamless experience from welcome goodie bags in their hotels and transport provided to where they needed to go for the whole weekend. Jane Steel was amazing to help us to create the most beautiful botanical setting with endless candles, high rise greenery, fresh herbs and beautiful finishing touches. We also wanted beautiful flowers to scent and decorate the church and marquee. ‘
