Love My Dress Editorial – Emmy Jewellery Collection
As I sit and compose these images its cold, wet and grey outside but looking back over this shoot I feel all warm and happy.
This shoot really was a dream for me for lots of different reasons. I have followed the beautiful Love My Dress blog since owner Annabel crafted and launched it in 2009. I was always drawn to this particular blog not just for its heartfelt writing and inspiring images but for Annabel’s personal adventures and thoughts too. In the beginning Annabel wrote of her own wedding and her trips to my beautiful home town of Whitby. I used to read them with fondness and always thought that we would end up bumping in to each one day. I also started my wedding photography business in 2010 but it wasn’t until a few years later that I started to submit weddings to this beautiful blog and began to chat with Annabel.
I was then so thrilled when Annabel asked me to shoot this very special editorial for Emmy’s new jewellery launch with H.Samuel. It took place in two dream locations – Annabel & Phil’s wild flower meadow which has been lovingly nurtured, followed by my favourite local beach, Sandsend.
I was so happy that Annabel loves analogue film and was able to commission me to shoot on my beloved medium format 645 camera with my favourite Kodak portra stock. I love the inherent quality and tone of analogue film. The colours are so rich and the tonal range gives a distinct look. A lot of people are often drawn to film emulation pre sets in post production but for me there is nothing quite like using the real thing.
Annabel & Phil really did source, secure and style this collaboration perfectly and were constantly staying true to Emmy and her strong brand aesthetic. Phil had even grown the perfect blooms with pastel tones for the shoot.
Here are some of my favourite film images……….
